Model History

Debuted at the Amsterdam Motorshow in 1985, the BMW M5 was credited as being the first true “Super saloon”. Using its motorsport derived motor, it was the fastest production sedan in the world, and set the bar for performance in the 1980s. Throughout the years, BMW updated and improve the M5, adding more power and luxury as time progressed in order to keep the competition at bay.

For its 5th incarnation in 2011, the M5 was based on the then current F10 5 Series. It was the first turbocharged model, using a twin turbo V8 mated to a DCT Gearbox. Factory power was a staggering 553hp, which gave the car a 0-60 time of just 4.4 seconds. When derestricted, this 4 door luxury saloon can reach 190mph.

Background

For sale on behalf of a client, we have this beautiful 2013 model with just 40,000 miles on the odometer. Finished in Silverstone 2 Metallic over matching “Merino” Silverstone 2 leather, it boasts a high factory specification.

The car also benefits from some tasteful modifications. Most notably, a de-cat and a remap have pushed this car to 670bhp, making it a breathtakingly fast machine.

Exterior

The car wears its mileage extremely well, with beautiful paintwork showing no major marks or defects. Having recently been detailed, it looks absolutely stunning and must be seen in person to be appreciated.

The deep gloss black wheels are upgraded from the wheels it came with from factory, and look fantastic contrasted against the Silverstone Metallic paintwork. There are some small marks on the wheels which can be seen in photos, but no major damage to speak of.

This cars options list from factory is quite extensive, and some of those most notable on the exterior are the glass roof and “M” Rear spoiler, as well as Individual high gloss satin chrome trim.

Interior

Inside, the leather seats are in very good condition. The only small area of visible wear is on the drivers bolster, which is very common on these cars and doesn’t detract from the overall condition of the cockpit. The “Individual” Anthracite headlining is mark free, as are the floor mats and carpets.

The specification inside is very high indeed. The pro navigation system has a DAB tuner, the HiFi loudspeaker system, connected drive services, real time traffic, concierge services and enhanced telephony. Both front sports seats are heated, as well as electrically operated with driver’s memory function. For driver convenience the car also has, comfort access with soft close doors, auto high beam assist, head up display and a reversing camera.

Mechanical

Like many F10 M5s, this car hasn’t been left fully standard. These engines are very strong, and respond well to some light tuning. In this case, we have a decat and remap which has lifted the power to an estimated 670bhp.

All four tyres have many miles left in them, as do the brake discs and pads.

The car has a comprehensive BMW and Specialist service history throughout its life, with the next service not due until March 2022.

Summary

To summarise, this a fantastic example of an iconic marque which is sure to give its new keeper years of entertainment. The additional power makes it a true “sleeper”, able to obliterate Ferraris whilst transporting 4 adults in comfort and luxury.

The F10 Series M5 represents incredible value in todays market, with values already increasing now is the time to buy and hold one of these rocket-ship saloons.
